The Gambia Swimming Association over the weekend unanimously elected Bintou Houma as its president for the next four years. She succeeds President Kadijah Njie Sanusi who resigned recently.
In her inaugural statement, the new president appealed to the general assembly to do their best to ensure that more women occupy key positions in the executive of GSA in the near future.
She thanked the general assembly for the trust bestowed on her to continue the term of her predecessor. “I cannot do it alone.” she said calling for team work.
Meanwhile, in a rather controversial move, the general assembly also unanimously voted for the expulsion of both the Treasurer and his assistant for allegedly failing to perform their executive responsibilities.
Musa Manneh, who deputized the Chairman of the KM Sports, expressed his satisfaction and hailed the composition of the executive board of GSA. He advised them to continue expanding their activités to cover the entire country.
The newly-elected Exécutive Board for 2018-2020 are as follows:
1. Président – Bintou Touray Huma
2. Vice President Admin. & Finance – Muhamed Bittaye
3. Vice President Technical – Habiballaah Jeng
4. Treasurer – Cherno M.S Jallow
Meanwhile, the position of the auditor and assistant Treasurer, and Technical Director, were all removed from the reviwed constitiution as executive positions.
