Teacher arrested for ‘rape’

Ebrima William, a 27-year-old physical education teacher at Nyagabantang Basic Cycle School in Central River Region (CRR) has been arrested for allegedly raping a young lady, The Standard has been told yesterday.

According to police sources, the incident happened on Monday September 11 in a bush between Nyagabantang and Sam villages near the Senegal border.


Our source said the accused is currently being detained at the Firdawsi Police Station helping police investigators.

Police spokesman Inspector Foday Conta confirmed the incident saying that a complainant made allegations against a man fitting the identity of the suspect currently at hand at Firdawsi Police.

According to GPF spokesperson, the victim complained that the accused person assaulted her before eventually raping her. “This prompted an investigation in the area including a search for the suspect who was later arrested through efforts of joint security forces in the area,” the PRO said.
