The Rotary Clubs of Brusubi and Cleveland UK recently donated 400 chairs and 200 tables to Jabang Lower Primary School. The gesture is to help make pupils education conducive and comfortable.

After one year of planning between the two clubs, the furniture was finally delivered to the beneficiaries. The school headmaster, teachers and students expressed “profound excitement” and joy upon receiving the materials.
“In one hour, student’s helped to remove the tables and chairs from the container to begin assembling them. The children were so happy and jubilant with the arrival of such needed equipment. We look forward to coming back to do this many more times,” expressed Phil , representing the Rotary Club of Cleveland.

According to one teacher, Jow, “Since September this has been our problem. Children come to class with nowhere to sit, some standing on their feet. It is very difficult to learn in that situation.”

Rotarian Christian Jorgenson of Brusubi was praised for “spending countless hours” to make sure that the container of furniture was delivered in a timely manner.
Rotary brings together a global network of community leaders dedicated to tackling the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges. In November last year the Rotary Club of Brusubi commissioned a water and sanitation project for Choya and its satellite communities and awarded limited number of scholarships to students enrolled at the University of The Gambia.

The club is also running its ‘Make A Difference Campaign’ with Gamcel raffling of a brand new SUV Korando, cash prizes, fridge freezers, mobile phones, flat screen TVs and other prizes to raise money for their humanitarian activities since last year.
