A brief violent confrontation between supporters of touring UDP campaign team and GDC supporters in the village of Tabanani in Sami district resulted in minor injuries to some people.
According to eyewitnesses, the trouble started when a man believed to be a GDC supporter attempted to record the meeting of the UDP and was stopped by the party’s supporters who accused him of trying to send audios to his party.
Fistfights then ensured leading to some to sustain injuries before police were called to keep the peace.
It is now reported that the village is calm after police cautioned all sides to refrain from breaching the peace.
Meanwhile UDP party leader Ousainou Darboe addressed rallies in the area calling on Gambians to desist from abusing the social media to cause discord among the people. He said Gambians are from one family and everyone must resist any temptation to divide them. The tour continues.
