Buramanding Jaiteh, one of the six shortlisted UDP aspirants for mayor of KMC has announced he has joined forces with another aspirant, Momdou Lamin Fadia.
Jaiteh, a former diplomat and international civil servant, said this one platform would give the Kanifing Municipality a mature and quality leadership.

The alliance now means that the duo would mobilise support and prgrammes for the selection of Jaiteh as the UDP candidate in the primaries expected Sunday.
Speaking to The Standard ahead of this weekend’s UPD primaries, Jaiteh said KMC needs quality leadership to get itself out of its present predicament of deteriorating environment, poor road network and poor drainage system that leads to floods each time it rains heavily.

According to Mr Jaiteh, the issues facing KMC require sound thinkers, and experienced and honest leaders to take charge for greater improvement to be realised.
Jaiteh further said he and Momodou Lamin Fadia, who quit the race to join his campaign, have the requisite knowledge and experience to convert the present challenges and problems of the municipality into opportunities.

“The waste products of the municipality, for example, can be recycled into energy sources and in the process create jobs for the youth, among others.
“When recycling is done in partnership with the private sector, it can be decentralized and spread over the municipality, thereby freeing the Bakoteh dumpsite which can then be used for more useful purposes such as to house the numerous mechanical workshops and spare part shops, presently congesting our neighbourhoods, narrow streets and other passages,” he said.

He said if elected, the limited market spaces will be improved through partnership with the local businesses, which will ensure that the current market spaces can be more economically developed to create more rooms in the markets.
