The Gambia National Commission for UNESCO has recently trained 15 young technology-based entrepreneurs on managing innovation at a training held at Ocean Bay.
The training was funded by UNESCO multisectoral office in Dakar implemented by the Gambia National Commission for UNESCO.
The training is meant to equip people especially women in business.
Speaking, Maimuna Sidibeh, principal program officer of UNESCO, said the objective of the program is to equip young people especially women in business, taking into consideration that technology and innovation are the new norms in business. “When you are an entrepreneur your business is not innovative, you are not in a very competitive environment. So for you to be in a competition, you have to improve some innovative ideas in your business for it to grow. So that’s why we decided to organize this training,” she said.
Madam Sidibeh urged all the participants to take the training seriously because this is one of its kind in The Gambia. “I would not say there has not been much training but I will say that this the first time our office is organizing such training”.
She added that this is an opportunity for young people especially the young ladies in the business.
