Advocacy group United Purpose in collaboration with the anti-illegal migration project Tekkifii recently funded a four-day inter-regional football competition involving CRR, LRR, NBR and URR at Jarra Soma.
The tournament was staged with the objective of ”using sport to mitigate irregular migration and enhance sustainable development”.
More than 85 young people were directly involved in the programme while 200 others got involved indirectly.
The final was contested between hosts LRR and CRR. The hosts won 3-1 to loud celebrations in the town and beyond.
The media coordinator of the event, Muhammed Saidykhan, thanked teams and officials for their successful participation and good conduct.
He said the event was designed to raise awareness on pertinent issues (peaceful cohesion, community development, irregular migration) and encouraging the youths to explore opportunities right here on home soil
Lamin Manjang of Uinted Purpose said his organisation will continue to support the development and empowerment of youths through sport.
