At an emergency meeting of its board of directors held on the 29 June, Vision Development Foundation has resolved that the views expressed by Mr Momodou Manta Jallow on The Standard newspaper, who claimed to be the national coordinator of the NGO, does not represent the views of VDF.

The release stated: “These are individual views of Mr Jallow as a private citizen who in fact, is actually a volunteer with the foundation, and not the national coordinator. The organisation is hereby totally disassociating itself from the views expressed by Mr Jallow and the whole content of the said interview as published in The Standard newspaper.

“The public is hereby informed that VDF is a social development organisation that has been set-up with the objective of complementing the efforts of the Government of The Gambia in social and economic development strides such as poverty alleviation. All media houses who intend to obtain information from the organisation should consult the chairperson or the executive director.

“Furthermore, since the inception of the NGO, the founding father Mr Modou Turo Darboe has been the sole sponsor of all VDF activities and programmes. We receive no funding from any outside ‘partners’ as indicated by Mr Jallow,” the release ended
