The decision by the court for the arrest of Mr Bayo came following an application made by the police prosecuting officer Corporal Hawa Jobe who applied to the court to issue a bench warrant against Mr Bayo who is at large to be brought before the court to answer to the charges preferred against him.
Mr Bayo was not in court but according to the indictment furnished by the police prosecutors, on count one, in November this year in Banjul [sic] and diverse places, Mr Bayo unlawfully assaulted Amadou Samba causing him actual bodily harm.
On count two, Mr Bayo was charged with assaulting Mr Samba and causing him grievous bodily harm.
No plea was entered for Mr Bayo in his absence. The trial magistrate consequently adjourned the matter indefinitely until Mr Bayo’s apprehension and indictment before the court.
