He is the compulsive liar on the online Freedom radio and newspaper bent on deceiving everybody who cares to listen to him by claiming to be a Gambian freedom fighter on a crusade to liberate The Gambia from undesirable to desirable governance. Regrettably there are many of his credulous believers more or less affected by the same hopeless existence of constantly aspiring for a better life in the future than the one they are living in the West but might never live to enjoy such dreams. The only difference between Pa Nderry and these poor fellows is that he exploits the fantasy by turning it into a cash cow while they merely continue to bear the torture of the gloomy mood he scrupulously instills in them.
This is somebody who came to the USA and deceived the authorities into thinking that he was an important political activist in The Gambia, opposed to the government that was oppressive to him and his entire family. For that reason he was granted political asylum and eventually became a naturalised American citizen. What the American Immigration and Naturalisation Service (INS) agents did not know was that Pa Nderry Mbye was nothing in The Gambia but an insignificant aspiring journalist who was one time employed at the main hospital in Banjul, as a glorified watchman called a security guard. They also did not fathom that almost every member of his family including his biological parents were and still are staunch supporters and active members of the APRC ruling party. Those in The Gambia who know his family well will attest to the fact that his very parents and siblings strongly disapprove of his negative activities against the Gambian people and government and are always quick to express their disappointment with his selfishness and total negligence to help alleviate their underprivileged living conditions. Compared to other Gambians lucky to live and work in America and frequently lending helping hands, so to speak, to their low-income-earning families at home, Pa on the contrary is infamous for doing nothing for his family who by every measure seriously need financial uplifting.
Unfortunately, his family members like many people who don’t know what he is really up to in America failed to comprehend that Pa Nderry Mbye is as seriously underprivileged in the USA. He has no regular job unlike most productive Americans despite exploiting, among other freebies, the convenient student grant and loan funds that successfully put him through college with a degree in communication. Under normal circumstance after enjoying this age-old revolving student-loan funds designed to help the ambitious but disadvantaged Americans to attend college, the beneficiary, soon after, finds a job usually in what he or she studied and starts paying back to the student loan treasury for other prospective candidates. But with a first degree in communication a familiar credential now saturating the cadre of young American graduates, the prospects of Nderry securing a decently paying job in such a field is virtually next to zero. His certificate is therefore as good as a toilet paper if the sanitation paraphernalia is not even more useful. Journalism school would have probably help him fulfill his long-time dream of being called one – though we are not quite sure as to whether he could have still found a job here in that field for being called one – but such disciplines are after all too challenging for an ordinary watchman-wannabe journalist to quickly and successfully study like he did in communication. You only have to scrutinise the manner he butchers his written and spoken English language to start doubting whether his communication degree was studied in the English or “Fana-fana” language. That indeed means that the only jobs he can get in the USA, he now calls his home, are those dead-end employments paying minimum wage or its equivalence that will barely keep him and his family afloat after taxes and student loan deductions.
Such predicaments of some Gambians in the USA in particular, studying unmarketable courses that will only provide them with certificates to display on their walls, is disappointingly pervasive and admissibly imputed to the root cause of their frustration from stagnation. With literally having no use for these certificates in America, they think a regime change in The Gambia will finally provide them with the conducive terrain to market the credentials for elite government jobs. Remember those days, decades ago in The Gambia when being called a college graduate from any foreign school, on any course, was all it took to claim entitlement and secure such jobs? Well comrades that allegory has since been busted by time and of course by the 1994 revolution. The APRC government under Jammeh does not care about the exhibition of academic titles without much to show for the owner’s productivity coupled with good character. Besides, the loyalty reputation and creativity are also huge bonus for survival in the regime. This stark reality is what enrages most of these folks and in effect make them easy targets to parasites like Pa Nderry who slurps their hard-earned money by constantly bombarding them with tales of hope for a glorious day of victory in The Gambia that looms close in the horizon soon translating in a takeover from the president and replacing everybody who works for him with the better qualified and rightfully entitled liberators from the diaspora. Wake up and smell the coffee guys, in that Nderry is all about scamming for fish money. We are hence advising everyone not just to stop paying for this man’s racketeering so that he would get off his lazy rear-end and find a real job but we are further warning those guilty of enabling him that as unscrupulous as he is he could one day publish the names of all those offering him handouts in confidence, if he finds the price of blackmailing them right or the effort of his campaign turning profitless. It is hard to believe that he believes in anything other than what perpetuates his self-importance and money-making schemes.
Unmistakably, upon realising that the swindling scheme pays better than taking up a low-paying job with no taxes to pay on such hidden income, he settles for permanent unemployment status exempting him from paying any dime to the federal or state governments and still insatiably taps their welfare-benefits. These are obviously the very bad examples often pinpointed by the American Immigration service when discouraging the government from legalising the status of illegal aliens who they assume are only good at bleeding the country’s resources into avoidable recession. We hope he is aware of the fact that no matter how long it takes to avoid paying it, the student loan will be part of one’s records in the USA and can in the future even affect the educational needs of one’s children. In contrast therefore, it is fair to say that Pa Nderry Mbye when he was a Gambian in The Gambia had nothing to show for his productivity other than being a glorified watchman. Then as an American in America has nothing to show for his productivity either than being a freeloader without a job and cannot afford to pay his expected taxes for social security, possible future retirement or disability benefit or fulfill any of those obligations that characterises a good American citizen. We even doubt as whether he has any medical insurance other than the Medicaid service for low and non-income earners. It costs the tax payers 330 billion dollars annually, not mentioning the trillions in food stamps and other subsidised living expenses. Let him take a moment and refresh his mind on the words he was asked to repeat as an oath of allegiance to the USA when sworn in as a citizen: “I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and Laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion. So help me God.” Plus in his responsibilities as citizen he is clearly required to: “pay income and other taxes honestly, and on time, to federal, state and local authorities.” What a disgrace to America and what it represents that Pa Nderry Mbye who was sworn before a naturalisation judge on the terms and conditions of legally becoming a citizen here is few years later championing a war of political liberation in The Gambia, the country he had renounce his allegiance to as a citizen. America has enough wars to fight; he should therefore use his militancy for his country.
Once again we must say that it’s all about getting fish money folks and in the process he stops at nothing to cause serious havoc to innocent people whose only crimes in most cases are minding their own business, not paying heed to his activities and perhaps by accident or incident crossed path with him on his cold-blooded rampage. He has framed innocent people into losing their jobs, sending others to jail, breaking people’s marriages, rupturing their relationships with their best friends and encouraging the naïve to keep on sustaining his miserable livelihood for almost a decade now. He will disguise into someone he is not, trick innocent trusting individuals into private conversations that he will secretly record and later broadcast publicly without the person’s approval. If that is not a crime committed in the name of journalism I don’t know what is. He has choreographed online interviews with impersonators claiming to be torture, rape and arrest victims of the APRC government when nothing is factual about the stage-managed presentation.
For fish money, the guy will report car accidents in The Gambia as planned by the APRC government to execute political opposition elements; he will report Gambians being abducted and killed in The Gambia when there is no truth to it; he will report employees being wrongfully fired from their jobs without any evidence to back it up; he fabricates all kinds of lies and sooner or later shows contradictory proofs that simply underscore his dishonesty and still expect people to continue taking him seriously for more lies. Then the moment he spots someone posing as a threat to his swindling scheme in the form of exposing his lies, he pounces on that individual’s personality with all arsenals to shred his character into surrendering or backing off.
That is what we the APRC party supporters in the diaspora are now going to fight against. We will be fact checking his blatant lies, trashing them into the garbage can they belong and keep on reminding everybody that Pa Nderry’s legacy in the USA is all about getting FISH MONEY for his underprivileged family. Next time we will look into some shoplifting crimes associated with people he can, but will never invite to his talking chamber in defence of their crimes. Stand by folks. Love live The Gambia in peace and never in pieces.
Samsudeen Sarr (for the APRC supporters in the USA).
