A 40-year-old woman in Galleh Manda in CRR south died on Sunday after she reportedly fell into a well.
She was identified as Basin Gaye. The PRO of the police Spt. Lamin Njie confirmed the incident.
Last night, he shared the following update with The Standard:
“On Sunday 13th September 2020, police in YBK received information that a 40-year-old house wife fell into a well at Galleh Manda village.
The information was shared with the Fire and Rescue Services, upon which a rescue team was dispatched to the scene leading to the rescue and eventual evacuation of the victim to the Bansang Hospital. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Meanwhile, claims that the incident is suicide related cannot be substantiated as of now, as investigation is ongoing.”
