WRC football boss: League is dream come true

“The very fact that football is being played in the region in an organised set-up, is a dream come true for Gambian football  administrators  and fans,” he said. 

Mr Sey disclosed that 12 teams are participating in the league with 66 matches to be played across the region, including venues with huge community passion for football. “The league will be played until 18 May, and our first match was played on the 8 March,” he said.

He further revealed that matches are being played at  Brikama, Gunjur, Farato, Bullock, Siffoe, Nema kunku and Brufut, adding that each of these teams paid a registration fee of D10,000, with each having 30 players and six officials.  “Our league winner will get D50,000 while the runner up will cash D30,000”, he said.

The winner of the league will also play the national league triangular which can lead to the second division league. He said plans are already finalised for next year when the regional league will start in December 2014 and end in June 2015.
