The championship was called to lay a solid foundation of partnership and friendship among the operators in wrestling so as to ensure peaceful and effective organisation of wrestling. The football championship was won by the Gambia Wrestling Journalists Association, Gawja, who beat wrestling managers 3-1 on penalties. The winners went home with a giant trophy and a cash prize of D1,400 and Malick Jobe alias Bakh Yaye was awarded as the best player of the tourney.
