Mr Sheriff Bojang, managing director of The Standard has been appointed as minister for Information and Communication Infrastructure while Neneh McDouall-Gaye, a former broadcaster and minister, has been appointed minister for Foreign Affairs. Their appointments take effect from Monday, January 5.
Sheriff Bojang has many years of experience in journalism in The Gambia. He served as editor and managing director of Daily Observer before leaving in 2005 for the UK for postgraduate studies. He returned home in 2010 to set up a national daily, The Standard, of which he was the managing director.
Mrs Neneh McDouall-Gaye had worked at the state broadcaster, GRTS, for many years before President Jammeh appointed her in his cabinet as minister for information. She was later relieved of her duties and had a stint as managing director of Daily Observer before she left for the US.
