The finalists were selected from exciting semifinal bouts at the Buffer Zone Saturday night featuring more than 60 wrestlers from all the seven administrative regions in the following categories: 66kg, 76kg, 86kg, 100kg and 120 kg. In a post combat interview Leket of NBR, one of the most celebrated wrestlers in The Gambia praised President Jammeh for promoting wrestling and including it as part of events marking his great day.
On his pending combat against Kojaro, Leket said; “I am really optimistic of victory over Kojaro. You just have to check my record and judge by yourself”. The Minister of Youth and Sports Alieu K Jammeh and President of the Gambia Wrestling Federation Matar Jarju both expressed delight at the inclusion of wrestling in the programme.
