By Amadou Jadama Just back from Bissau The Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at The Gambia, who doubles as the Amir of Guinea Bissau, has said that the best weapon for waging war against Satan is to follow the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Baba F Trawally made this observation on Friday while presiding over the opening of the ninth Jalsa Salana of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in Guinea Bissau. The Jalsa Salana is an annual national convention held in Safim, 7km from the capital Bissau. He underscored the importance of the Jalsa, and the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of the prophet Muhammad(pbuh). “Today marks the beginning of the ninth Jalsa Salana of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Guinea Bissau. When this Jalsa started some years ago, the attendance was quite small. As the years progress, the attendance has tremendously increased with many new Ahmadis in attendance every subsequent Jalsa,” he said. He added that this is a great mercy of Allah Almighty and a fulfillment of his promise to the promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi. “I shall give you a large party of Islam and also I shall carry thy message to the corners of the earth.” “The Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi (as) has given us comprehensive guidance on this based on the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (pbuh). He Says: ‘So first and foremost, mould your own hearts, if you desire to touch the hearts of others, then develop the power to do so by practicing what you preach, without practice the force of words and human influence can be of no benefit’.” “This clearly tells us that for us to succeed and fulfill the objectives of the Jalsa and the overall mission of the Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi (as), we must purify our hearts and mould them in such manner that they would always repel sin and evil. This requires a constant self-assessment and surveillance of the heart. This is the inner war, the greatest Jihad about this the Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi (as),” he said. Amir further disclosed that Jalsa Salana is one of branches of the revival of Islam, the purpose for which the Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi (as) emerged. He said the Jalsa is not like other gatherings because its objectives are to increase the love of Allah Almighty and the love for his Messenger Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Amir Trawally implored members of the Jama’at to always create good morals and spiritual relationship among themselves, and also to put into practice the divine message of the Holy founder of the Jama’at. In his closing remarks, Muhammad Hassan Memon Missionary In-Charge of the Jama’at in Guinea Bissau pointed out that Islam means the religion of peace. “A person following Islam will find that he or she is surrounded by noble teachings, the aim of which is to establish peace between man and Allah, the Creator of all.” “It is our belief that not only Islam, but no true religion, whatever its name, can sanction violence and bloodshed of innocent men, women and children in the name of Allah Almighty. Terrorists may use religious or political labels. They have nothing to do with religion. They are the enemies of peace. They must be combated at every level as advocated by Islam, the religion of peace,” he said. Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V the head of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at based in UK, has sent a special message. In a statement read by Muhammad Hassan Memon Missionary in charge on behalf of him, he offered prayers for the success of the Jalsa, participants, Guinea Bissau, Senegal, The Gambia and entire human race. He called on Ahmadis to excel in righteousness and purification by doing that which Allah will be pleased with them.]]>
