Speaking to The Standard on the sidelines of the event, Bakau Youth and Sports Development Association (BYSDA) president Bakary Dampha explained the motive of their meeting in collaboration with the BSDAC: “This meeting organised by is aimed at strengthening and assisting us [BYSDA] in terms of sports development. The advisory committee is responsible for all sports in Bakau. They will develop our football field to standard and other issues regarding development.
“So today’s meeting is all about the people of Bakau coming out and pledging what ever amount of money they can into our newly launched account completely and totally under the control and supervision of the development committee. So we wanted to call on the people of Bakau and show them what is going on within our sports sector. We want everybody in Bakau to come out and pledge. Hopefully by next year we will have a standard football pitch in Bakau.
The alkalo of Bakau and head of advisory committee said the show intends to seek help from anywhere in order to improve the standards of sport activities in Bakau. He noted quite a good number of young footballers are parting Bakau and plying their nawettan seasons elsewhere due to reason that that there is no proper ground of football field in Bakau.
“This is killing football here in Bakau. It is not good for us [Bakau] and not for the county as well. This is why we formed this committee,” he said.]]>
