Brufut and Lamin in unknown territory, as Manjai host SK Central

Lamin, one-time champions, are keen to avoid last year’s troubles with organising committee for misconduct and are expected to allow their hugely talented pool of players concentrate on a promising campaign which gets serious almost instantly with a fixture against a formidable Brufut side. That zone is only three years old in this tourney but already has a semi-final finish under their belt.  Brufut is also fired up by pressure from home fans to put last year’s first round exit behind..

Elsewhere in the group, Manjai open their campaign with fresh memories and a burning ambition to repeat their impressive hundred percent group finishing of last year. And the opposition today, Serekunda Central, is least fancied to pose threats to that ambition unless the boys from the Mboyo Field bring a surprise package to the tourney. The duo meet at the Manjai park. In yesterday’s grand opening, Serekunda West clashed with city Boys Banjul. It ended Serekunda West 0-0 Banjul.
