For both Schinjdel and Fatoumatta’s Print Saturday’s Knock final in Brufut was a scintillating battle for both pride and supremacy .Whereas the colorful Schijndel FC from Santo Su, never reached this far, Fatoumatta’s Print from Sateeba, is among the giants of Brufut football with a great history and pedigree to defend. So while Schijndel sought fame Fatoumatta’s Print took the battle as a death or life matter. In the end they settled for a goalless draw with very few moments to write home about in terms of fire and cracks.
Determined to break the tie on penalties, the teams were reluctantly persuaded by the committee to call for a replay hoping that both sides will use the time to regroup and reposition for a new date that must produce a definitive Knock out champion. The Committee also hopped that the public will massively respond again to raise funds for the Brufut United second division team. With that understanding the crowd dispersed eagerly awaiting a new date.
The field was packed to capacity with dignitaries led by Hon Mai Fatty of the Gambia Moral Congress GMC who took the kick off.
Babucarr K Bojang the coach of Schijndel is very optimistic that his side would be victorious when the match is replayed. Yahya Darboe head coach of Fatoumatta’s Print who is delighted that he has guided his childhood team to this level is hopeful of the future.
The executive members of Brufut Sport Committee will soon announce a date for the replay.
