BYC, REAL CLASH STILL ON COURSE

The Gambia Football Federation GFF has been working extra- time over the last few days to ensure that Saturday’s champions league match between Real and Liberia’s Barak Young Controllers go ahead. This follows a report that the airline expected to fly BYC to Banjul declined to carry the team citing travel restrictions in the wake of the Ebola crises.

The Gambia government announced over the weekend that those restrictions have been lifted but apparently reports from Monrovia intimated that the information is yet to reach a certain airline interested in running the route.  The Liberian Football Association LFA was quoted by Liberian media to have raised the issue with Caf.

The Standard yesterday contacted the President of the GFF Lamin Kaba Bajo for comments on the matter. Mr Bajo said the GFF will not be distracted by unsubstantiated comments but rather will concentrate on taking the right action to ensure that everything needed to be done is done.  “When that is done, we will come out with an official statement,”he told The Standard.
