Local NGO Caravan of Mercy will Saturday hold another fund raising bike challenge, two years after Covid- 19 halted the planned annual event.
According to the Overseas Coordinator of Caravan of Mercy Pa Modou Sillah, 20 cyclists from the UK will take part in this 247 Kilometer event from Barra to Kuntaur.
The challenge will last three days starting this Friday and it is aimed at raising funds for the many projects being implemented by NGO.
The 2019 challenge raised funds for a school in Kuntaur Wharf Town which was fitted with solar system worth D136,205.00.
The NGO also built a ten-classroom block in Serekundanding village, equipped with a computer lab, store, office and toilets all electrified by solar system at a tune of D2,906,679.00.
Mr Sillah said the funds went a long way in helping them meet their day to day running costs of the projects including staff wages. He said they could not stage the event since 2019 because of the pandemic, but Saturday’s event has all the hallmark of a bigger event.
