Kick For Help Gambia organise a day-long female tournament

A Germany-based non-profit organisation Kick For Help Foundation, in partnership with Women in Liberation and Leadership over the weekend organised a day-long female tournament competed among three teams at Abuko Brewer. The event was staged as a sensitisation venture on creating awareness about FGM, early marriage, sexual violence and to get back girl dropped-outs to school.

It was staged under the theme “Hands off Our Girls” peace tournament.

Kick for Help- Gambia project promotes social cohesion, peaceful coexistence, access to education and health among other things through sports activities. It also helps underprivileged and deprived members of their communities through capacity-building training programmmes.

The organisation’s Gambia ambassador, Omar M. Bah said the event coincided with International day for ‘Zero Tolerance TO FMG’ and therefore a good platform to send the message across.

Abdoulie Bah, chairman of the sports committee of the area and the head coach of the Orange Stars football club called for more support to empower t young women. California FC won the tournament over Darussalam and Borehole FC.
