D1.1bn recovered from ex-president Jammeh

The report of the commission of enquiry into the financial activities of ex-president Yayha Jammeh, his family and close associates will be unveiled to the media on Friday at the Ministry of Justice.

According to Government Spokesman Ebrima Sankareh, the Government white paper on the findings will also be released at the same place.

Speaking on popular West Coast programme Coffee Time with Peter Gomez, Mr Sankareh said the report is fairly long, about 1600 pages.

“Even the government white paper too is over 93 pages long,” he said.

He further revealed that the Commission spent D50 million dalasis on its operations but has been able to raise D1.1bn from the former president.

“One hundred million was received in cash from the sale of his cattle, cars, etc while landed properties seized from him are valued at One billion dalasis,” Sankareh said.

He said the press conference is open to all radios, newspapers and TV stations and social media platforms.
