Dr Henry Carrol, a prominent Gambian legal luminary, has said that the appointment of Ousainu Darboe as vice president is constitutional.
Mr Darboe, the leader of the United Democratic Party, recently topped the list of appointees into President Barrow’s government following a major cabinet reshuffle.
Soon after, the opposition Gambia Democratic Congress claimed the appointment is not legal, citing among other reasons Mr Darboe’s conviction in 2016 of illegal assembly.
However in his interpretation, Dr Carrol argued that none of the legal arguments advanced by Mamma Kandeh and his GDC disqualifies Mr Darboe’s appointment
