The Ecowas secretariat in Abuja has clarified that Edward Singhatey, who was nominated by former president Jammeh to serve as vice chairman of the commission, has since completed his term last year.
According to Ecowas, it was disturbed by references made of Singhatey as an Ecowas official.
The regional body urged all Gambian domestic and diasporan media to desist from associating him with Ecowas. It also refers all Gambian media to the Ecowas permanent mission in Banjul for any information relating to Ecowas.
Mr Singhatey, who served in the military junta with Jammeh was recently alleged to have been involved in multiple murders by witnesses at the TRRC.
