The public relations officer of the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) Modou Lamin Jammeh has revealed that the hospital has been coping well since the sit-down strike by doctors and that there have not been any rise in mortality as a direct result of the strike.
Speaking to The Standard Jammeh said unlike some other health facilities the main hospital has a good number of consultants, professors and other senior hands available constantly during the strike which in fact has enabled patients get direct access to the consultants more easily.
Mr Jammeh however said the strike should be a concern as it will affect health service delivery across the country and everything should be done to resolve the matter amicably as soon as possible.
