Foreign Ministry distributes dates donated by Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

The Government of The Gambia through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad of the Republic of The Gambia, have begun distribution of dates donated to the Government of His Excellency, President Adama Barrow.
The 50 tons of dates, donated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was meant for the poor and the needy. Speaking on behalf of Government at the beginning of the official distribution, Mr David Gomez, Ministry of Lands and Regional Government, thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the gesture and extended the appreciation of the Government of The Gambia.
“This is not the first time. Saudi Arabia gives dates to The Gambia every year. And again we are here to distribute the dates to the actual targets, the poor and the needy,” he said.
Mr Gomez also urged the Regional Leaders to redistribute the dates to their people as it is meant for them. Each of the Regions received 100 cartons for onward distribution. Ministries, Departments and the Security Services have also received cartons.
