FSQA wraps up TOT on food safety, hygiene

Food Safety and Quality Authority and Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) in partnership with government of the Gambia and funded by the European Union have ended five days training of trainers course on food safety and hygiene.

The training of trainers, held at the Empretec conference hall in Bakau, targeted twenty-one participants from various food businesses sectors.
The PS office of Vice-president Madam Amienatta Nancy Nyang, said the EU funded youth empowerment program is supporting this training project and it could not have come at a better time.

Director General Food Safety and Quality Authority, Zainab Jallow, said they are optimistic that the training will prove valuable to the participants as youths and citizens interested in national development.
She said the participants have to be committed in the project for at least three years; “they need to know that they are making difference that adds value in the future, they need to know that they have been given skills that are saleable.”

Coordinator YEP project in the Gambia, Madam Fatou Jallow and Hema Menon, International Trade Center all spoke at the training.
