Man, 39, remanded in prison over robbery

The high court in Banjul has remanded a 39-year-old man accused of stabbing and robbing one Abdou Gadir Jallow of Abuko.

The judge, Justice Bakri ordered for Alagie Senghor’s remand at the Mile 2 Central Prisons following the prosecutors request to have him under custody pending the outcome of the case.

This came following Senghor’s plea of not guilty to a criminal charge of robbery. His lawyer Baboucarr Boye was not present when his case was mentioned.

According to the allegations, Senghore robbed Abdou Gadir Jallow by violently grabbing his bag, stabbed him on his forehead and arm in July last year. If found guilty, he could face life imprisonment.

Trial is expected to begin when the case resumes in March.
