Press Release

The Gambia youth (boys) volleyball team had earned a spot in the 3rd African Youth Games following their qualification from Zone II after Senegal and Guinea failed to participate in the elimination rounds that was slated in Banjul last weekend.

The Gambia Volleyball Federation now ponders to send a strong youth team to Algeria this July for their maiden appearance in the games that starts on July 17th and runs through to July 27th 2018.
The African Youth Games is an international multi-sport event held every four years to complement the current All-Africa Games. The first games was hosted by Rabat, Morocco.

This international sportive event has been created by Lassana Palenfo, current director of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa. The idea came in 2006, but the very first African Youth Games took place in 2010. The 3rd African Youth Games will take place in Algiers, Algeria from 17 to 27 July 2018.
