Jahara Koita and Shiehk Colley, the young athletes from Gambia who qualified for the Youth Olympic Games after a brilliant performance in Algeria are gearing up for the games in Buenos Aries, Argentina from the 6th to 18th October. The Gambian team is expected to leave Banjul on October 3rd 2018.
They conceded only one defeat to Sierra Leone in their group and went on to top the pool.
Once out of the group stage, they went on to beat Morocco in the quarterfinals and lost to Mozambique in the semifinal. However the pair went on to beat Algeria in the third place playoff to earn Gambia’s first team sports slot in the Olympics.
