Bass won gold in 200m and silver in 100m to gain a place in the world championship whiles Ebrima Camara got the ticket with his timing in the 100m finals.

The 17th edition of the IAAF World Athletics Championship starts on Friday 27 September until 6 October 2019 in Doha, Qatar.

Gambian athletics officials are hopeful that at least Gina Bass may land a medal in the world championship which will be the Gambia’s first at such level.

”The only event we have not yet won medals is the World and Olympic games.

We are all praying that we break that jinx too in Doha this year,” GAA president Dodou Joof said last week.
