By Rohey Drammeh At the end of his 26-day tour of 7 European countries, Ousman Sillah, the National Assembly Member for Banjul North has painted a grim picture of the condition of Gambian migrants in Europe, mainly Italy. Addresing a press conference in Banjul yesterday, Sillah said he discovered from officials in Itlay alone that some 50,000 Gambians have landed there and only 11,000 of them are documented, meaning the remaining 39,000 are wallowing in uncertainty. “I personally visited their central station and saw very young people of about 18 and in some cases 15 years of age and some of these people did not even appreciate me because they are with the belief that people come from The Gambia with Immigration officials to identify and deport them,” Sillah said with deep emotion. He said he found out also that some Gambians even sleep in the streets in very harsh weather. Honourable Sillah disclsoed that goverment must do what it takes and come up with measures that will keep the youths in busy and productive lives back here at home.]]>
