GBA denies plans to prosecute Jammeh

By Omar Bah The Gambia Bar Association (GBA) have denied a report published on one of the online websites alleging that the bar is planning to prosecute former president Yahya Jammeh for conspiracy to assassinate President Adama Barrow. In a press release sent to this medium, the Gambia Bar Association said it has come to their attention that a website called http://aljazeera-channel.com/ has, on the 25th day of January 2016 published a story with the sub-head: “Yahya Jammeh to be charged with conspiracy to assassinate the new president”. “The public is hereby informed that the said publication is false and that the Gambia Bar Association is not involved in such matters. It is also noted that the website is not affiliated to the well known Al Jazeera news network,” the release read. “The public is urged to be cautions in its consumption of news from incredible sources,” the release signed by the association Secretary General concludes.]]>
