The opposition Gambia Democratic Congress has accused government of not doing enough about Gambian migrants stranded in Libya.
Following news of the inhumane treatment of African migrants in Libya, the Gambia’s Foreign Affairs ministry issued a statement condemning the act.
However the GDC wants more action by the government.
“Condemning the inhumane treatment alone is not just enough to solve the problem; they must be seen to do something tangible about the plight of Gambian migrants who may be caught up in this saga,” the GDC statement said.
The GDC said other countries like Ivory Coast and Mali are busy taking back their youths from Libya.
According to the party, President Barrow should take a more serious attention to the matter and not just stop at condemning the treatment of migrants in Libya.
