By Omar Bah

The Gambia Democratic Congress has called on the government to use dialogue in settling the Kanilai saga.

Speaking to The Standard recently, the GDC public relations officer, Mamadou M5 Jallow said his party is very concern about the political situation in the country and wants the government to use all means through dialogue to solve the issue.
“The Gambia belongs to its citizens irrespective of tribe or political affiliation and the GDC is beginning to believe that if nothing is done to further orient people to remain one, it may lead the country into civil unrest,” Jallow said.

The GDC man said his party is ready to engage them into a mediation process to settle the problem in Kanilai and to ensure there is greater level of understanding between government and the residents.

He added:“The GDC also believes that Kanilai remains part of The Gambia with President Barrow as head of state and everyone living there should live with that fact and at the same time government too be there for everyone and protect the lives and welfare of all”.

Mr Jallow said the most important thing the country needs right now is to orient citizens to be tolerant and reconcile.
