“As one of the few things that attracts huge attention, dominating all sporting activities in the country, football remains the most influential platform for youth cohesion and therefore it is  very  important that it features in the Nayconf,” he said.

Mr Bajo added: “That is why we at the GFF made it our guiding principle to ensure that regions are empowered in football so that this benefit can reach all corners of the country”.

He also went on to reveal that sports does not necessarily have a home as talents can be found everywhere in the country. ”Don’t be surprise if some of the trophies in this Nayconf are left in LRR,” he prophetically stated, since LRR indeed went on to win the athletics while CRR reached the football final.

Mr Bajo also emphasised that his administration at Football House wants the development of football to reach all gender and that’s why they have decided to implement the Fifa concept of ‘Girls Festival’ which is aimed and increasing female participation in football.

“At the moment we have engaged Fifa and we are on one slate as far as female football development is concerned in The Gambia,” the GFF boss said.
