Old rivals Berewuleng and Skypower meet in the second match of today’s fixtures in the Brikama nawettan now into its third week.
Both teams opened their campaign with victories after Berewuleng won Soccer Stars 1-0 as Skypower beat Gidda Youths 2-1.
But the main highlight of the group is expected to be the clash between these two giants. Prior to this match Nema Youths were billed to take on Real de Missira in the early afternoon kick-off.
Ever since the Super Cup final, fans have been streaming into the Box Bar stadium in their thousands from far and wide as new clubs and more established names lock horns.
From the famous Berewulengs, Skypower, New Town United to newcomers like 1 Infantry Battalion, Fabou and unheard of Spare Bank, the excitement has been feverish and expectations high.
In the earlier matches little fancied ML Dertusa, one of the names fans must struggle to remember, fought a tight battle against Talli-Bi ending in a one all draw. And when bigwigs Amasa, founded by The Standard proprietor Sheriff Bojang could not beat Spare Bank and Greater Tommorow beat Chimo 4-2, the signals were clear that this was not going to be an ordinary football season in Brikama.
And off- the pitch Zone secretary general Alhagie Darboe is still struggling to master some of the strange names of teams in Brikama.
