News of the deletion of the controversial clause was revealed by SJAG president Sainabou Kujabi-Njie on her Facebook page yesterday.
“The minister has agreed to leave out the clause that would have made it mandatory for the periodic licensing of every Gambian journalist who covers sports. SJAG and GPU have been tasked to handle matters regarding the issue of professionalism of practicing sports journalists in the country,” she stated.
The issue almost brought MoYS and SJAG to collision but all were satisfied and breathed a sigh of relief yesterday when news broke that the matter was amicably resolved. The SJAG president and members Essa Jallow and Pa Modou Faal represented the journalists at the validation of the bill where they strongly objected to the clause.
