Haja Jawo who is from Bahoum Kunda, is accused of causing the death of one Mamu Jawo in the same village by throwing a slipper at her which action caused her to fall on the ground causing her death.
However, Haja could not take her plea since the lower court is ruled to lack jurisdiction to hear murder cases. Police Prosecution Fatou Jallow applied for the case to be transferred to the high court.
In granting the application, Principal Magistrate Lamin Mbye stated: “In line with the application of the prosecution to transfer the case to the high court, I order that the matter be transfered to the Special Criminal Court of the High Court that has the jurisdiction to try the matter. Meanwhile the accused is remanded in custody pending her appearance before the Special Criminal Division.”
