Golf Pros clash at weekend tourney

Sponsored by the club president Augustus Prom, the tourney attracted nine professionals competing for three prizes.

Gibou Jallow topped the leader board with 67 (2 Under Par), while Fakebba Drammeh Tiger and Dodou Kassama tied in second place with each scoring 69 (Level Par). Others who played are Bakary Touray, Omar Jadama, Yusupha Tamba, Edrissa Jammeh, Lamin Jammeh and Pa Famara Jatta.

According to sources, the club plans to stage regular monthly competitions for both professionals and amateurs. “We are hoping that corporate bodies will come forward to sponsor the championship and promote Gambian golf.

“There are hugely talented golfers in The Gambia who have  better chances of bringing glory to The Gambia than most otherssports,” said veteran amateur player Lamin Sonko who is now based in Sweden.
