Entitled Mathematics Dictionary for Upper and Basic Cycle Schools, the book was written by Sanneh himself, who is also a senior teacher at the Jamisa Upper and Senior Secondary School in Brikama.
In a keynote address at the Regional Education Office, Mr Bakary Ceesay, principal education officer, commended Sanneh for writing and donating the book.
He urged Gambians with the potential to partake in the development of education, assuring the basic education ministry’s readiness to support Gambians to adopt the culture of writing books for use in schools.
Lamin Sanneh, the author, said: “The books are useful and will help students to better understand the basics in mathematics.”
He added: “I am inspired by a declaration of the year 2012 as year of Science, Technology and Innovation by the President of the Republic. That is the reason I have also decided to complement the efforts of the President by writing the book.”
The beneficiary schools include: Kalagi Upper Basic School, Sangajorr Basic Cycle, Sibanor Upper Basic School, Ndemban Upper Basic School, Kafuta Upper School, and Kabafita Basic School.
