The public relations officer of the Gambia Ports Authority has said that the article published yesterday regarding the dredging contract signed between GPA and DEME Dredging International Company might have been misunderstood.
Modou Lamin Sanyang said ferry services going 24 hours as published in The Standard is only a possibility and that possibility is in fact dependant on the success of the dredging contract.
“What people think is that ferry services are certainly going to be 24 hours soon.
This is not the case. What the MD was trying to say is that if the landing sites have been successfully dredged, it would provide bigger vessels more space to anchor. If this happens, it will in turn allow ferries to operate freely without hindrance which could adjust the time of services to 24 hours but it is only a possibility not a certainty. So people should understand that,” PRO Sanyang said.
