The resident representative in The Gambia Ruby Randall on Friday breathed deep sigh of satisfaction after presiding over the closing ceremony of three-day intensive training for West African journalists on financial and economic reporting at UN House, Cape Point organized by the IMF.
After presenting a paper on IMF’s current engagement with the five West African countries concerned.

Madam Randall revealed that the initiative to run the course was borne out of the desire to help capacitise journalists in handling, reporting, analyzing, interpreting and reporting financial matters. She commended the coordinator, Lucie Mboto Fouda from the IMF media relations division for her office’s hard work in making the course a reality. Lucie, in her turn thanked participants and their course director Sharah and for a thorough engagement and deliberation during the course.

The Minister of Information Ebrima Sillah commended IMF and Mrs Randall for the initiative and challenged the journalists to use the knowledge gained from the course in their future reporting of financial economic matters.
The participants who came from The Gambia, Nigeria, Liberia and Ghana received lectures on financial and economic reporting as well as the workings of the IMF. They said the training has helped clear a lot of misconception about the IMF, which will reflect on their work henceforth.
