The Gambia Table Tennis Association in partnership with Huawei recently completed a gruelling inter-schools championship at the Independence Stadium. The event was competed by a gallery of players drawn from numerous schools who competed in three main categories, Lower Basic, Upper Basic and Senior Secondary schools. The association said the championship availed them the opportunity to identify talented players as well as provide much needed competition to school-going players who are expected to be the future stars. Tennis enthusiasts praised the initiative describing the involvement of the schools as the key to sustainable development of the game and indeed any sport.
