Judge orders Prisons DG to transfer minor from adult wing

Justice Ebrima Jaiteh of the High Court in Banjul has ordered the Director General of the Gambia Prison Services to immediately transfer one minor offender [name withheld] from the adult wing of Jeshwang Prison to the juvenile wing, pending hearing and determination of a bail application.

The High Court Judge made this declaration whilst presiding over the bail application filed on behalf of the accused person who is charged with murder.

The minor offender was remanded in prison custody by the Essau Magistrates, Court and has been in detention since the 29th December, 2020.
