Twelve teams from villages in Kiang East district are current playing a memorial tournament in Massembeh to remember Mahawa Cham, a former National Assembly Member, who is one of the victims of the former regime. Mr Cham reportedly died at the hands of the former president Jammeh’s junglers.
The tourney was kicked off by his brother Sarjo Cham, assisted by Adama Chama a twin brother of the late NAM.
It is being organized and funded by natives of Massembeh in collaboration with the United Kiang East Association comprising diaspora people from Kiang East.
In the opener on Saturday Massembeh beat Njolfen 4-0, as Jomar drew Kolior on Sunday. The tournament continues.
