He was talking to The Standard as he presided over the presentation of football jersey to Nema Fulla-kunda village in the Kombo South, donated by Torshov Sport.
According to Mr Dampha, the items will go a long way to inspire the young footballers of that area to pursue their dream of becoming national players and keep them in the country instead of aspiring to use the back way to Europe. He further said that some of the reasons some youths including footballers leave for the back way, is because they tend to lose hope early. “But with efforts like this they can feel wanted and nurtured for a better future through football. Grassroots football remains a corner stone of the GFF’s policy and Football House welcomes support from any source with good intentions,” Dampha said.
In this connection, he thanked Gambian former footballer Pa Babou Faye, who attracted Thorshov Sport to help the young players back in The Gambia.
Mr Dampha expressed optimism that relations between Torshov Sport and The Gambia will be a long lasting affair. Others present at the presentation included Abdou Corker and Mrs Fatou Nyan, wife of Gambian veteran player Alhagie Nyan.]]>
