Dear editor,

I highly welcome the enforcement of a public smoking ban, but they seem to fell short on two crucial issues: smart sensitization and business catering regulations. Smart sensitization must include smart ads to show public smokers they are harming others, committing sins between creatures that government and God have the right/responsibility to judge. You should always try to win the minds of people, not just force them with jail, fine, and corruption windows. The government should never be Indifferent towards businesses because governments largely depend on money for many of the products and services they should render. The great thinkers within government should have suggested ways with standards that will allow smokers to smoke without harming others, but since there seems to be a lack of thinkers within government, the best from the public must suggest for them free of charge, or for God to reward. I can help you set up three different examples that you can recommend to businesses and gradually help set up in some public spaces run by the government. There should be a special chimney of reasonable height with a special changeable filter that government should sell and/or allow few businesses to make for standard control. This will allow hotels, bars, and restaurants to smartly allocate smoking rooms without hurting none smoking customers. The present ‘100 meters’ smoking distance is simply not feasible in many areas, including our tourist dedicated areas. Whereas my chimney with changeable filter recommendation will help create jobs, achieve none public disturbance target, cater for smokers while we continue to discourage smoking, cater for businesses, etc; the present government position is wishful under thinking. Regardless of your intentions and vague assumptions, always gauge your effects with realistic figures. What good is 5 to 15% of outgoing smokers staying home due to public smoking laws; 30 to 60% continue to disturb the public where police are not present, 50 to 80% of those caught bribing their ways; 10 to 50% of smoking tourists choosing other destinations or wondering if returning is smart; and maybe 1 to 5% paying fines that cannot come close to the chimney, filter, labor, and XYZ that comes with my approach? Whereas I am extremely liberal on personal freedom, I believe in smart regulations that humbly cater to all. Similarly, legalize and regulate marijuana in ways to help whom the Lord wills, but regulate it like a cigarette; no street and public smoking, but dedicated areas with chimneys and changeable filters.

OADN: Recently, Senegal and/or the Gambia caught illegal migrants and set them free or failed to tell the public what they did with them. Such boats should be seized and sold, all monies of the migrants and traffickers should be confiscated and invested with 50 to 75% shares to those caught, etc. Of course, new laws should be enacted. A boat of about hundred people can yield over hundred thousand dollars, and how many companies started with lot less than that in and outside the Gambia, UK, and beyond ? Meaning, people may frown at my proposal in the beginning, but if it helps setup ten great businesses, it will help many, save money and lives. Rather than the questionable empathy we have for such migrants, we must see them as culprits that need smart hard lessons. Charge them with trying to cross borders or avoiding legal borders, reckless endangerment, intend to lie against a government and its people through questionable refugee claims, etc. I will not recommend jail, or maximum of a week, except the traffickers. The special agency to invest on confiscated monies should have smart thinkers to maximize success and help create jobs, with reasonable considerations to would have been lying migrants. We cry over the lives we lost to this back way (illegal migration), but we are losing millions that could have been , and can be redirected towards billions of dollars and more legal migration, where need be. May the helpful Lord help us lot more.
