Magistrate Peter Adoh Che of the Brikama court yesterday remanded a 40-year-old man, who allegedly raped a 10-year-old girl in Lamin.
The accused, Ebrima Bah, is standing trial on a single charge of rape brought against him by the police. However, Mr Bah denied the allegation against him. If found guilty, he could spend the rest of his life in prison.
According to the police prosecutor CPl 4812 Preirra, the alleged incident happened on March 7 2021, at Lamin village where Ebrima allegedly engaged in a sexual act with a 10-year-old girl.
The prosecution urged the court for the case to be transferred to the high court, since the offence committed attracts life.
In his ruling, presiding magistrate Che accordingly remanded Ebrima Bah to the State Central Prisons, and ordered the case file to be forwarded to AG Chambers for a formal charge be made against him.
